Schneider Electric and SBSC are creating a joint fire-safety training package

Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, is leading the way in accelerating skills supply in the area of fire safety and security by launching a training program for its employees together its long-time and independent cooperation partner, SBSC (Swedish Fire and Safety Certification).

The fire safety industry is subject to tight controls but, as in many other professions, it suffers from a shortage of trained expertise within the area. Through their joint effort, Schneider Electric and SBSC are striving to set the stage for individuals with backgrounds in electricity, IT technicians, programmers and fresh graduates within these areas to receive training and pursue a career as fire alarm technicians at Schneider Electric in Sweden. Training will be made available starting in January 2024.

“In today’s climate, the demands placed on companies within the fire-safety industry are extensive. Schneider Electric, together with SBSC, has taken the initiative to establish a training program to certify participants after they have successfully completed the exam and follow-up tests,” explains Rasmus Wingren, Fire Certification Manager and Operation Excellence at Schneider Electric.

”The aim is to establish a new training standard for companies in the industry, ensure enhanced skills supply in the industry and simultaneously encourage additional companies to get on board with this initiative,” says Hanna Oredsson, Business Manager Fire & Security at Schneider Electric Sverige.

“The long-term ambition is that more companies will be able to follow this initiative in order to satisfy the need for skills within the industry.”

”Our ambition is to support and transform the industry. There is a considerable lack of personnel and a low level of growth in terms of persons coming from the outside. By offering a technical platform in combination with our extensive knowledge within skills development in the area of fire safety, the certification will make it easier for and encourage companies to recruit persons who are currently not part of the industry,” explains Mårten Wallén, Managing Director of SBSC.

”The goal is that an independent certification will be a natural part of the training plan in companies which are getting underway in their cooperation with us,” explains Louise Berg, Administrator – Personnel Certification at SBSC.
