Tell us a little about what you did before you came to SBSC?
“Most recently, I was at Brandab, a company which has its headquarters in Karlskrona as well as branch offices around south east Sweden, both in Blekinge and Småland. While I was there, I was site manager for a team of 10-15 persons focusing on fire alarm systems and extinguishing systems. We were involved in new-builds, conversions and service both on land and in ship-based systems. Before I wound up at Brandab, I worked for roughly 10 years as a naval technical officer, and then approximately 9 years in the defence industry. I then changed fields completely to fire safety.”
What will you be doing here at SBSC?
“My principal role will be in the area of fire safety, but I plan on gradually expanding my areas of responsibility as I become more grounded and as needs arise. I am quite familiar with fire alarm systems, gas extinguishing systems and kitchen extinguishing systems, so it feels like a solid foundation. In terms of related areas, I still have a bit to learn, but I look forward to growing into the role.”
What do you most like to do when you’re not working?
“The sea has played a major role in my life, particularly since I live in Karlskrona with my family. At present, I have a launch which is approximately 8-metres long, but the plan is to change to a sailboat before next summer. When I’m not working on the boat, I prefer to play guitar and base. We actually had a hobby band at my previous workplace, which played once a year at company parties, but my rock career has definitely come to an end. With that said, I try to make it to Sweden Rock every year to listen to the real musicians.”
“ A few years ago, I also started hunting, which is a great way to keep yourself busy even during the winter months. And I’ve just started to play golf again after a break of 15-plus years. When I have time, I’m happy to help friends work on their cars and mopeds, and I’m in the process of restoring an old Husqvarna motorcycle from the 1950’s.”
Where do you live and what is your family arrangement?
“I live in a house in Nättraby, about ten kilometres north west of Karlskrona. I live with my wife, Heléne, our younger son, Felix, who is 18, and our dog, Happy. Our oldest son, Oskar, who is 22, has just moved from home and now lives in Karlskrona.”
It sounds like you have a jam-packed schedule, both at work and during your free time. Thanks for sharing and best of luck at SBSC.
